It's Thursday, and time to show off some of those thrifty treasures.
On Sunday, Annie and I went to an estate sale at a very large house in a nearby community. Lovely home, with some lovely things that even at the end-of-sale discounts were too pricey. Things like Orrefors crystal, Waterford, Lenox . . . so instead, I got something marked this way:
Along with it, I got this leaf-shaped dish.
I also love plates masquerading as make-believe vegetation.
I mean, who doesn't?

The tureen has a lid, and a ladle.
All in perfect shape. Ten bucks for both pieces.

It's going to live up on top of our kitchen's make-believe Welsh Dresser.
How fitting.

It was at this same estate sale that Annie scored
a dozen beautiful demitasse cups, and I got a
fan-shaped silverplate vase.

And that piece of Majolica I found at Goodwill for
$6.99?
Its twin just sold on eBay for $265.00.
Sweet.

As for me, it's back to the grindstone; the Big 90th Birthday Party for my Dad is on Saturday. Today I made sure I had more than 40 napkins to go with the tablecloths and plates, and enough knives and forks as well -- now some quick polishing is in order! -- Cass
You have really been getting some great bargains these days!
ReplyDeleteI went to a thrift store today looking for vintage jewelry, but did not find anything interesting.
Wow, what great finds. I love them. I especially love that wonderful asparagus tureen on the top of the hutch. Great job. Hugs, Marty

I'm loving that silver plated fan vase. Don't tell me it was $1.98!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Frog Shell thingy...there's somebody out there for everything I have determined. ;-)
Great finds and what a buy. Have a wonderful birthday party for your dad. 90 that is great.
ReplyDeleteI love your pumpkin tureen, Cass. And that leaf plate, too. It will be great for an autumn vignette! Oh did I just say that? It just turned summer! LOL
ReplyDeleteAs for your majolica- don't you absolutely love a major bargain?! You got one.
hugs, Sue
Great pumpkin tureen you've got- it fits perfectly on top of your hutch, looks like it was always there with the others!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a score on that Majolica piece, huh?! Bet you were excited about that one! Happy VTT!
Rockin' the thrift shops and sales. Cass I would check out that shelf on your cupboard there. It looks like if you put one more piece on it, it looks like it will give in and collapse. Just one more piece.
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of plates, bowls and cups pretending to be vegetation. It is a weakness with me. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great deal! The pumpkin will be lovely for fall decorating. And your collection of faux vegetables is fun- The asparagus is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds. Love the pumpkin and the dish. I found a silver fan vase just like the one you found, about two weeks ago. Have fun with your party!
ReplyDeleteWow, your dad's 90th birthday party, and now you have the fabulous vegetable shaped tureen. Will you use it or is it for display? You found some great treasures.
ReplyDeleteWow Cass! Gorgeous treaures! That oiece of Majolica is so beautiful and wow! You hit the mother lode didn't you!!
ReplyDeleteI love your hutch so...
Love,
Sue
Cass-I've been catch up tonight on your blog...and yes, I can stay inside; I'm old enough to remember all those things :) Love the tureen and I cannot believe the majolica!! You scored. I have a "Lucy" glider that I am working on for my daughter's deck. It belonged to my grandmother. Replicas of the chairs are selling for lots $$$ ! Finally, I am impressed with your lunch made of leftovers! I'd have sent my family to the golden arches :) It looked delicious!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly got a couple of great finds. The plate is just waiting to be heaped with candy. I like vegetable dishes too. The set including the asparagus dish looks great up on that shelf. Estate sales are fun, you never know if you will find treasures or just more stuff. You found treasures.
