Dahlink, I Vant To Be Alone

Ssshhhh. . . . I'm taking a few moments for a solitary cup of tea in the parlor.

You can peek if you'd like; you're family.

It's simple.
An old brown lustreware teapot. A birthday tea cup -- July of course! -- and some vintage linen and lace.

Antique silver plate spoon.

And an old, old damask napkin edged in hand crocheted lace.
So soft, so pretty.

And that's all she wrote!

Do you have a corner in your house that is your bolt hole,
your little escape from the rest of the world?

Everyone wants to be alone, once in awhile.

But to join the crowd of people who just love to play with dishes,
mosey on over to Between Naps On The Porch, for Tablescape Thursday.

But before you go, just a glimpse of some early-on pictures from
my Dad's 90th birthday party on Saturday, held at That Old House.

These were taken before the baby got drunk on beer.
Only kidding. Really.

See you Friday! -- Cass

  1. I'm still looking for a bolt hole at Pondside - I'll find one! In the summer it's the veranda, but that doesn't work on a cold day.
    Lovely party postmortem photos!

  2. Your tea set up is SO pretty. I don't have a snug little corner like that, but I love a cup all by myself most of the time.

The party pictures are fun. We have the SAME red barrel that we keep the beer in. It's perfect and can hold a lot! I love seeing a few floating the next morning!!

  3. After your weekend, you deserve that cup of tea! What a pretty spot and setting. How's your Dad? I'm betting he's still on cloud 9 after seeing his brother. Rest a bit girl- enjoy your memories of the day

  7. Nothing better than when the house is tidyed back up and you can sit alone and relish in all that you did and what a fun time everyone had. I did the exact same thing AFTER my MIL's birthday party.

  18. I'm trying so-o-o hard not to be covetous of your remarkable lace edged teacloth - collecting linens, as I do, it sems every exquisite one that you see just is so tempting! I'm trying hard to downsize, but it's a losing battle! Lol.
