Thinking Spring, Seeing Snow . . . .

Mary at Little Red House, who hostess-es Mosaic Monday, is thinking about Spring.

So am I.

I am looking forward to our poppies and irises and other spring blooming plants
coming back bigger and better this year. Fingers crossed.

Although they should be able to spring back come Spring,
as they've had some of that nice fluffy white mulch covering them much of the winter.

Winter does have some good points, like Presidents' Day Sales.
But the gray and white landscape gets old. Quickly.

There's only one thing to do: toss another log on the fire, put the kettle on, find a good book and a better afghan, and cozy down for the rest of the winter. Maybe thumb through a seed catalog!

We completely dodged the big Nor'Easter snow bullet this past weekend,
but there's some inches predicted for tomorrow night.

I'm losing faith in Staten Island Chuck. -- Cass

  1. I live in the east midlands of England . we have snow too,it,s also very cold . I love your house . I live in a bungalow , my dearest wish is to live in a house again so I can put my quilts everywhere,
I have joined you , perhaps you would like to look at my blog and if you find it interesting !!!!--------cottonreel

  2. Beautiful photos! Snuggling up with a quilt actually sounds quite lovely. Happy Monday! **blows kisses** Deb

  3. Oh I am so thinking spring too. We didn't get a bunch of snow but the temps are to be in the minus numbers. ICK!! I hope my perennials come back bigger and better too and that the really cold winter we have had didn't kill them. Hugs, Deb

  4. Cass, this is the winter-iest winter we've had since moving to NC. I know it's getting old for you guys, but I do miss the northeast seasons. The quilt and fire sound scrumptious!
    xoxo Pattie

  5. Seems lots of us are thinking spring. It's been a crazy winter in Texas....we're not use to this cold, but with quilts, books and a nice fire we'll see spring soon. Lovely Mosaic post. This is my first and I hope you'll have time to stop by and see my Knitting Mosaic...Sue

  6. Thanks for stopping by, I took a longer moment to read your profile and it so made me smile. Having celebrated 35 years of marriage and my youngest turning 30 this Dec. I can't wait to tell them him that he has turned antique :) You asked about the program I use. I have iPhoto on my Mac and then downloaded the software picnik. I pay $24.00 a year to use this software, however you can play with it for free, just not as much. Photoshop for Mac's is very pricey and I find I can do a lot with Picnik. Come back another day to visit. I must tell you your house is also the house of my dreams but I'm gettin a little to old to hold out much hope of every having it. Boo Hoo!

  7. I love your mosaics! Do you have a website you could point me to so I can learn how to do it?
I am thinking spring, too! I just do not want the heat of summer. ugh. Me and heat are not a good mix!!
Thanks for stopping by, Cass! It means a lot to me :)
    xo, misha

  8. Beautiful shots, Cass! I love the rock wall with the snow!

  9. Love the mosaic, Cass. Just what I needed this morning. We are all patchy snow and although it was sunny earlier, it's getting gray. I don't even watch the weather anymore.

You've got the right idea. After I clean up the house (which is a mess because I actually left to go to a Superbowl party for the first half of the game and you know you are going to come home to disaster), I am going to curl up with my book and not move all day!!

  10. G'day Cass ~ Snuggling up with a warm house, cup of tea, hazelnut candle & a Reese's Peanut Butter cup ... wanna come over & share?

    Happy Valentine's
    Have a beautiful week.
    Hugs, Marydon

  11. I got up this morning to 4 - 5 ins. of the cold, white, fluffy stuff on the ground. I am ready for Spring.

  12. If only it looked as nice outside as your mosaic I'd be smiling...instead I am frowning, it's snowing, again! I am beginning to wonder if spring is ever going to get here.
    Have a great week!

  13. The mosaic looks wonderful!...I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever warm up! We usually have warm spells here (East Texas) so the cold doesn't usually bother us.
    Love your house!!!!

Thanks for coming by and becoming a follower!!
    Stay warm!

  14. I am so anxious for spring! I know what you mean! Lovely photos. We didn't get the snow either, but tomorrow night into Wednesday we are supposed to be getting quite a bit1

  15. I wish my poppies had come up. Maybe this year. I put some in that had already been started....

    Your mosaic is lovely.

    Becky K.

  16. Poppies, and irises, roses, chives and pansies... all so lovely!

  17. You have been posting such lovely photos. I can't wait till the weekend so I can comb your archives!

  18. Oh, so pretty Cass! I too, am tiring of winter. I do ok until about now and then I could literally scream! It's snowing again, as I write this! ARRRRH! Cindy

  19. Ooooh! I love poppies and Pansies and Iris. Your mosaic is nicely done, so cheerful. I have been thinking about about gardening catalogs too, maybe more bulbs this year. We don't have the white stuff, but brown and more brown can get a bit old too, I love my little bits of green.

  20. Hi Cass

what a great mosaic--of things to come...and we are reading up for another snowfall tomorrow night here on LI. I am hitting my saturation point with the white stuff! :0) And your place out east always gets hit harder than myself here on the South Shore! :0)

  21. Lovely, beautiful flowers and gardens in your mosaic. Yes, it must be that magical, fluffy white mulch that makes them so colorful! That's also a gorgeous stone wall.

Thank you for visiting my Outdoor Wednesday post last week. I apologize for being so slow in responding.

Hope you are spared significant precipitation in this next go 'round. We may get up to 9 inches. =(

  22. Spring is right around the corner and your garden will be abalze with color!

  23. A lot of people are thinking about Spring today. It's coming we just have to be patient.
Chuck???? I'm not sure about him.
    Enjoy your Tuesday.

  24. Everything looks so pretty and I adore your home! I find myself longing for spring. Virginia's had enough snow now, thank you very much "Old Man Winter". Joan @Americana By Candlelight

  25. Wonderful mosaic of your flowers. Your right about getting cozy with a fire going and a hot drink, it is cold out there. I am so ready for spring.

  26. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my post. We live in Memphis and we rarely get much snow. We usually get some ice. Sadly we are not well prepared for winter weather and it shuts down the whole city at the slightest mention of ice or snow. So this year has been particularly unusual for us. It is stunningly beautiful.

I love your table and the way you arranged your tablescape. You obviously have quite an eye for creating loveliness in your home. What a wonderful gift. Have a wonderful week and stop by again.
