Oh The Weather Outside IS Frightful!

In common with much of the rest of the East Coast, it's snowing here at That Old House.

I went outside in my slippers to check things out from the relative safety of the front porch.

The side yard.

One poor little bush, picture taken over the porch railing.

And an azalea that will someday be flowering. I hope.

Too cold. And slippers, although they can make a nice pattern
of footprints on the porch floor, don't keep your feet warm.

Back inside!

The view from one of the dining room windows. . .

. . . and from the end of the sunroom, to the stone wall . . .

. . . and stone steps. The big hulks to the left of the picture are our cars,
in the driveway, as you look up the hill toward the backyard.

The conservatory ceiling is getting covered with snow. It will be that way for days!

Uh-oh. Our neighbor's wife is out shoveling their driveway.
I better not let Howard see that; it might give him ideas.

Join Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for more of Outdoor Wednesday.
I'm betting mine are not the only snowy pictures you will see!

Stay warm! --- Cass

  1. It sure looks pretty from the inside looking out!!~ Stay warm!!~

  2. our weather is a bit frightful as well but I have an appointment this afternoon so out I go to brave the cold, bitter winds... sob

  3. The shovelling is the part that Ray DOESN'T miss! But oh how pretty!
    xoxo Pattie

  4. Doesn't the neighbors wife know the rules about not shoveling snow:) I like to look at snow from the inside looking out only. Stay warm and cozy.

  5. Brrrrr, cold but beautiful....

  6. Sure is pretty, but glad it isn't here. Stay warm.

  7. Wishing warmer temps for all of you on the East coast....I think you've had enough of this !!!

  8. Wow, that's a lot of snow! It looks beautiful though. Stay safe and warm!

  9. My house is inside a veritable snow globe!
I took a couple of pictures (from the window, my balcony is totally snowbound!) if you want to see them.

    See? I read your blog!

  10. Hi Anne! YES I would love to see your pictures of your snow-globe world. I think New Brunswick is getting more snow than we are -- at least for now!
    Happy Snow Day ...
    Love, Mama
PS How bored are you, poor thing, that you are reading your Mama's blog? :-)

  11. Snow is only pretty in other's back yards, LOL! We don't live in the east but have our share of snow but at least today the sun is shining. Stay warm and remember...if we had no winter, spring would not be as pleasant.

I can't wait to see your azalea blooming in the spring, hopefully you will show it in a future OW.

  12. I just love coming here! I may not feel like looking at or commenting on blogs but I come here and always have a chuckle! I envy your snow (sorry ~ we haven't had any this winter :~{ ).
Funny that you don't want Howard to see the next door lady shoveling and getting any ideas ~ at first I thought you didn't want him to go out and then it dawned on me ~ YOU don't want to go out! Haha!
Thanks for the fun and pretty snow shots!

  13. We have snow -- you have a major winter happening! Stay safe, stay warm, spring is soon to come!

  14. Great pictures! Looks like the kind of snow we had Sun. night into Mon. morning. Some still left on the ground here and there. Problem is, they are predicting more Thurs. night into Fri. Bring on 75 - 80 deg. temps and sunshine!!!

  15. Fresh fallen snow is just so beautiful. I'm just glad I live where it doesn't snow so I don't have to shovel it.

  16. It looks so beautiful, and so very cold. Keep warm, dear Cass. Many thanks for sharing.

  17. Brrrr! Pretty pictures, I know, just one more picture right, next thing you know, your fingers are half frozen. They are dramatic and pretty, now go get warm.

  18. I have had it with snow! And more for Mon!
    Stay warm...

  19. Wow girl!!! It's days like these that we are so thankful for a nice cozy house...slippers, hot chocolate, a fire, good book...

  20. Hi Cass, thank you for stopping by my blog. So nice to have you visit. I live in CA so we have pretty nice weather by comparison to what you have been having. The photos are beautiful though. I love snow when the sun shines on it and it sparkles. That is about it though. Stay warm!

  21. Oh Cass, I'm really feeling for everyone with all this snow! I'm determined not to complain about our chilly temps and gray skies here in Florida when I see on the news what some folks are dealing with. Snowed-in, shoveling, and more to come? I'm sure you must be ready for Spring and I know your garden is!

  22. Cass - thanks for stopping by on my blog - where in Pittsburgh did you live? I spent a few years in Shadyside and loved it. Pittsburgh is a great city - your brother will love Richmond. We only have about 4 inches of snow on the ground right now and thankfully, the sun is out!!

  23. Beautiful pictures. We are snowed in as well. Somehow, it looks so much prettier in your pictures than it does here.

  24. Very pretty pictures of your snowy world. I like the picture from inside looking out, that's were I would be! Stay warm, Anita

  25. You have a nice porch. I bet you are hoping for spring to come so you can enjoy it. Were you successful keeping your husband away from the windows? Joan @Americana By Candlelight
