Grape Expectations, Redux

It's another hot day here at That Old House.

I took advantage of having a daughter still at home and sent her up the stone steps to the grape arbor,
to snap some intimate pictures of our ripening grapes.

Back in July I wrote about our ancient grapevines and how my dad loves to snitch the ripe grapes right off the vine, and how our neighbor made jam, and . . . well, if you are interested, that story's here.

But we are halfway through August, and our precious grapebabies are beginning to mature.

Ah, they grow up so fast!

Anne did a good job of peeking through the leaves and capturing the blushing babes.

Yeah, there are a few raisins on the family tree; everybody's got a couple of relatives like that, right?

Until we moved here, I never realized that grapes go purple gradually.
I hadn't actually given it much thought!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

  3. Your mosaic is beautiful. I am having a stained glass window made and it is of a grape vine. I will post the pictures when it is done and it will be almost as pretty as these.

  6. I left my concord grapes when we moved south, and I wonder if the new owners are enjoying them. These pictures are beautiful. It's like you could pluck one right off of the screen..

  7. Nice photos, I love the green of the grapes, I wonder if there is a paint color called "Grape Green" wouldn't that be a great accent color? I think so. Hugs, Cindy S

  18. Awesome! We have some "wild" grape vines around our yard. Not enough to bother with so we leave 'em for the birds.
