But instead, I'm going to join my daughter Anne at her apartment.
Anne is among the walking wounded, sporting a sling on her right arm,
an ice pack, anti-inflammatories and pain killers.
She was injured in the line of duty, and now needs a little temporary help.
Anne's been working as an assistant to the designer for the Broadway revival of
Evita,
Evita,
which opened in previews the week before last. I didn't realize all the the tweaking
that goes on during previews, including some wardrobe changes.
We should have known she'd go into costume design as a career. |
Annie spent Friday and Saturday hauling heavy bags of clothing, shoes, and other wardrobe items
all over New York City, returning or exchanging them. By Sunday afternoon, her right shoulder was sore.
Then it got worse. And worse. By Monday morning, when she saw a doctor,
she was diagnosed with something I can't spell, but it means swelling and pain and now -- rest.

So I'm off to give what assistance I can.
And to hear more tales of Broadway backstage!

Awww .... Hope all is well soon!!
ReplyDeleteHave a Great Week!!
Marilyn
Give Anne a hug for me! And take care of her -- that's what mothers are for!
ReplyDeleteIs Dion going with you?
Oh no. Poor thing. Shoulders are often a a spot where injuries reoccur.
ReplyDeleteHope she feels better after all that schlepping! At least it was an injury in the name of Fashion!
ReplyDeleteHope she feels better soon. I am sure she appreciates your help.
ReplyDeleteOh dear! Enjoy some mother daughter time!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you can go to spend some time keeping the working-wounded company! Shoulders can be tricky, so I hope she takes time to really heal - when I injured my shoulder, a physiotherapist was a great help with massage and exercise.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that last photo wasn't Anne's face reflecting the pain of the shoulder!
She is a cutie! Hope she is well soon. Sounds like a neat job.
ReplyDeleteAwww...Cass! How awful. I hope she is soon on the mend. After working in theater for several years I know that it is not an easy job. People have NO idea what goes on behind the scenes. Nor do they realize the tremendous amount of unsung heroes in the wings. Have fun helping out (if you can). xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read that Anne is hurting! I hope it is just a temporary bursitis & not a torn rotator cuff. Ice, on & off, 20 mins intervals will help along with the meds & make SURE she eats before she takes those pills. They can wreck havoc with the stomach lining!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Rett
Hope your daughter feels better soon! hugs Catherine
