A Moment In Time . . . Tea Time!

It's another chilly Sunday at That Old House.
January is like that.
After church, Howard and I will continue our quest to find
the perfect venue for daughter Alida's wedding reception this summer.

I'm taking the easy blogging road today, and re-posting something
from June of 2010, thanks to the Sunday Favorites blog party.

Ssshhhh. . . . I'm taking a few moments for a solitary cup of tea in the parlor.

You can peek if you'd like; you're family.

It's simple.
An old brown lustreware teapot.
A birthday tea cup -- July of course! -- and some vintage linen and lace.

Antique silver plate spoon.

And an old, old damask napkin edged in hand crocheted lace.
So soft, so pretty.

And that's all she wrote!

Do you have a corner in your house that is your bolt hole,
your little escape from the rest of the world?

Everyone wants to be alone, once in awhile.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

See you Monday!
Have a lovely restful Sunday -- Cass

  1. Cass -- I hope you're making some progress for wedding venues. I would imagine that in your part of the world that there are many? Enjoy this wedding -- it's truly a special time!

And, of course, I loved your tea for one. You always have the prettiest things! (All of which I covet!)

  2. Cass,

I have just rediscovered tea. Jackie (my blogging friend from England) wrote about Yorkshire tea and we are hooked! Another blogging topic....

Good luck today. My reception was at the Fortnightly club in Summit!

  3. Cass-I have bee MIA for a while and had missed the engagement--congratulations! I enjoyed every minute of planning our daughter's wedding--of course, I enjoyed it more once we got all the "biggies" nailed down. Sometimes having lots of options makes it even harder! I am in the middle of trying to plan TWO rehearsal dinners for both sons so I feel your pain :) Come home and put your feet up and drink that tea this afternoon--you will deserve it! Good luck-hope you find THE PLACE today!!

  4. Weddings are such wonderful times, but all the planning can become stressful. So glad you have such a beautiful spot to just sit and relax. Your teascape is perfect. Enjoy. Hugs, Marty

  6. A wedding venue? Exciting! I'd pick your house, if it were my choice for my wedding.
The teacup is lovely, as is the damask napkin and the other details.
I cherish my solitude. It's a gift and a blessing.

  10. Well, I actually don't have a place like that in my home, but I always take a walk when I need to be alone for a while. I love that, to get out for a while and get some fresh air and get some new energy.
I wanted to share something with you today... I've just received a wonderful name sign from a company named Ramsign and I thought you might enjoy looking at their website. Take a look at http://www.ramsign.com if you want :)

  12. I remember this post - - - and your solitary tea is still just as lovely as ever.

I know where you can find some hungry ghosts to join you if you're lonely on your tea time.

  13. That was lovely - and I too crave solitude more than I care to say. I love my quiet mornings and evenings, and when I have lunch at work I try to go away on my own. Perhaps it's because I listen to people all day - I just want quiet whenever I can get it. I'm not anti-social, because I'd love to share my pot of tea with a friend any day!

  14. Those images are gorgeous and I love your chair. I will pay my kiddos down payment on a house to have a small tiny wee wedding. I lack the desire to pay for them. You and Howard are darlings♥
