Our Connie Was Never One To Make A Fuss. . .

Sweet dreams, sweet Connie. . . .

In September 2007, we adopted an older Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Connie through Cavalier Rescue. She moved right into our home and our hearts, and became best buddies with our other Cavalier, Dion.

Wednesday night she did her usual "Princess and the Pea" routine on our study sofa -- her habit of tipping over sofa pillows and climbing up to lie on top of them. I took pictures.

I don't know why I took pictures then, maybe it's the habit I've gotten from blogging, but I'm glad I have them.

Less than 12 hours later, Connie left us. Unexpectedly and quickly. In the same simple, no-fuss way in which she lived, our Connie died.

I'm glad we had this sweet lady for a year and a half; it was not long enough, but then it never is long enough, is it?

I am glad that she found such a good home to live out the rest of her days in, but I,too, am sad that they were so limited.

I will pray for your and your family,
Blessings to you this Mother's Day,

  9. She was a sweetie, indeed, from the look on her face. I'm so sorry you've lost her.
Both our Cairns were rescues - although they have given more back in 'cuddle therapy' than we could ever have imagined.

  11. Sweet Dreams sweet Connie.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Our pets have a way of making their way into our hearts. I know your heart must ache this day but what a true gift she had in you and your family as she lived out the remainder of her days knowing happiness, love, and security. I know she is now romping freely and happily at Rainbow Bridge (perhaps with my sweet Bailey) waiting for the day you'll meet again.
My prayers and thoughts are with you.

  12. Cass, I now have the biggest lump in my throad reading this post. While my sweet cat is sleeping just inches away from me, you are mourning the loss of your beloved Connie.

Pets are such a deep, wonderful blessing, aren't they? Take time to mourn and enjoy your memories of her as well.

    I'm so sorry.

  15. Hi Cass, feeling very sad for you about Connie.

I'm also sending you a great big wow - you gave her such a loved and happy time with you, a place to feel safe as well as loved and cared for. A doggy friend and much comfort.

If I've not commented before ( or have forgotten that I did), I have been following your blog for a several weeks. That you gave Connie such a caring, loving home is no suprise after reading your posts.

Sending sincere care and huggles to you, from Michelle in Wellington, NZ ...and my rescue cat Zebby (sound asleep, nose down in a fluffy scarf)
