The summer after she graduated high school, Anne spent almost a month traveling in Germany. She took a lot of digital shots -- including a few thru a bus window. Here are some, in no particular order, and with no explanations (I recognize a few locations, but am not entirely sure so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves):
And here is our photographer, standing by some wall in Germany in August 2005 -- a rare shot as Anne is camera shy:
The last photo, below. Why did Annie take it? Look at the sign on the left. It means "Exit" in German, but to a group of American 18-year olds, it was pretty hilarious:
(Well, my Mom came back from Germany years ago and told me that she'd stayed at the "Hotel Eingang" in Cologne. She even had a picture of herself standing in the hotel doorway with "Eingang" clearly written overhead. "Eingang" means "entrance" in German. She never did learn the real name of the hotel.)
Enjoy your Wednesday! I am going to take my daughter Anne to lunch, and then attend the opening of her senior art exhibit -- she graduates college next week. Time flies. -- Cass
Your daughter shouldn't be camera shy as she is one gorgeous lady. And what a lucky daughter she is to see Germany and scenery that beautiful!

Your daughter is just lovely! I was in Germany about 10 years ago and just loved the beautiful landscape. Here in Missouri, we have the town of Hermann which is famous for it's vineyards. It resembles Germany in many ways. Thank you for sharing the photos.

ReplyDeleteOkay you know I giggled at the exit sign. Sorry. Perpetually 18 in my brain.
ReplyDeleteI don't often see pictures of Germany but it is very beautiful. I am glad you mentioned she took some pictures from the bus or I would have pointed out your families ghost in the picture.

Sue
Love your pics. Your daughter is so lovely! I had to show hubby the sign. lol Are we 18 again? lol I love the crystal bowl and the red one. That one neat teapot! I just sat and watched your slide show! Love your antiques, the sofa is just divine! I love your foyer, with the staircase. I always wanted a staircase, as a young lady. I got one but its in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos - thanks for sharing. I have just recently found your blog, and have enjoyed reading about your home - ghost and all. :)

The scenery is almost as gorgeous as the young woman who photographed it.

ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Thanks for the memories. It has been almost twenty years since I was in Germany -- I loved it.

Great photos. Brings back memories of being in Germany back in 2003. Enjoy your daughter. And thanks for visiting my blog & leaving me a comment. It really means a lot to me. And hubby said "no" to giving you the Lenox bowl. Sorry. I guess you'll just have to get your own from ebay. I just won't tell him. lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and, I'm sure, lovely memories. I remember many a drive with a trio of boy cousins in the back seat, howling their heads off as they shrieked 'ausfahrt' at every highway ramp. I can't be too smug though, as once in the Netherlands the Great Dane and I were certain we were eventually going to find a hotel in the town of Doorganverkeer (spelling) which was 'detour'.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is beautiful....I agree she should not be camera shy...Love the pictures of Germany...My "Weekends in Paris" this Friday features our side trip to Germany...you'll have to check it out...I love Germany....and as for the "exit" sign...I'm so dense sometimes that I thought it was the name of a town and wondered for miles just how big the town way....What town has a dozen exits for it??
ReplyDeleteI am not seeing a pic of your daughter! She made you take it off, eh?
ReplyDeleteMy son won't let me post any family pics on the net...
Her pics of Germany are great, and yes that sign is funny!
She's so pretty!!!
