Alida has visited Bosnia five times since she was 17 -- four times to work with children at day camps, and once to visit a friend in Sarajevo. I hope you enjoy these pictures of a scarred and beautiful country.

Alida and the group she worked with visited the famous monastery at Rama for
rest and renewal. I can't picture a better spot to do just that:

Sarajevo holds a special place in my daughter's heart;
she says every time she goes back, she sees more recovery from the scars of war:
And our photographer, below, with one of the little boys from the summer camps.

I told you last week that my daughter Anne is camera shy. Alida is decidedly not!
Alida comes home tonight from California, for almost a month. She and Anne will be visiting London, a sisters' trip, and then Anne is off to Guam till the end of June. More pictures! If I keep this up, my next original Outdoor pictures might be autumn leaves! -- Cass

These are just beautiful pictures that Alida took, Cass. I have never seen pictures of Bosnia and had no idea it is such a picturesque country...the mountains and waterfalls and pretty villages. Alida is a beautiful girl and I admire her work in Bosnia. I missed Anne's pictures last week but it sounds like both of them have the wanderlust so I should be seeing more, right? ;-D
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, dear Cass, and enjoy your time this month with Alida!

I am a little late catching up, but these pictures of Bosnia really touched me. It seems like yesterday that the whole area was engulfed in such misery and horror. Too see the beauty now, even with it's remaining scars gives me hope for the rest of the world today. Your daughter is beautiful. Cass,you must be so proud.
ReplyDeleteHi Cass, what beautiful pictures! Your pretty daughters are so lucky to be able to visit other countries, I didn't realize that Bosnia was so beautiful, I have only seen pics of the wars they have had. Anyway, I came by to tell you that I love your blog and I have given you a Bella Award! Come on by and check it out!
