Quick post today! Thanks to Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for hosting Outdoor Wednesday (click here for more!).
I am joining the ranks of those posting snow pics from Monday.
As always, ignore any peeling paint and crooked shingles on That Old House. She loves to get her picture taken, but she's never looked in a mirror and doesn't know that she could use the services of Elizabeth Arden; the makeup's beginning to crack.
My husband took the snow pictures before he started shoveling.
The snow is still with us but the about-nine-inches of Monday
has shrunk; it was so light and fluffy when it fell that even though it's
still below freezing, the snow is disappearing.
And about my grandma's cake. . .
If by chance you read last Friday's That Old House post (click here) then you will know that the following pictures tell their own story:
I pulled the bundt pan out of the pantry,
and found a strand of beads in it.
???
Your guess is as good as mine.

See how little is left? We were five for dinner last night; my brother and sister-in-law brought my Dad. The 5 of us ate half the cake that according to the recipe feeds as many as 15 people. On what planet?
Well, my Dad had two slices of this cake; it is his mother's recipe, after all.
By the way... that plate was my grandmother's, one of a little stack of luncheon sized plates by Syracuse china. Grandma liked pretty things, too.
Happy Outdoor Wednesday Cass! I enjoyed the beautiful snow pictures your husband took! And yummmmm you have cake...I'll take a piece with me as I go to visit the other Outdoor Wednesday posts! Thanks for sharing your photos.

It's a shame the cake is almost gone ... you could have brought it to Gollum's 'Foodie Friday' this week ... you want to make another one? It looks delicious!!

Hi Cass!
ReplyDeleteYep, 15 inches...enough of snow!

Ooooh to have a lovely slice of cake with a cup of cafe creme and to lookout at that snow while sitting by a roaring fire... DIVINE!
ReplyDeleteI made your Grandma's cake the day after you posted the recipe. It was every bit as good as promised. I couldn't find a bundt pan, so used a tube pan, so mine wasn't as pretty.
ReplyDeleteCass,
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks yummy and I don't know about you, but I can't wait for our snow to head bye bye. Cindy
Oooh that cake looks so good! I wish I was there to share a piece!
ReplyDeleteYour snow looks so pretty. Yes, I am one of those goofballs that LOVES snow and to be all snowed in!
: )
Love,
Sue
We only had maybe 2" of snow for about 6 or 7 hours here where I live (Alabama) and it was gone. Actually we still had a little up against the north side of our house this morning but that is now gone also. Your snow pictures are beautiful and the cake looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.

I love your snow pictures, I've never seen snow in real life!!
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks YUMMY I bet it tastes as good as it looks!
Thanks for visiting my blog. I love your old house. My sister and her husband live in an old house that reminds me of yours. Loved your snow pictures. Beautiful sunroom too. Have a nice day. Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the fresh snow falling look so magical? And it looks so pristine covering the lawn and making it's own little sculptures on trees and patio furniture left out (like mine). I even hate letting the dogs out in the backyard , making tracks and messing up my perfect little landscape...
ReplyDeleteI haven't made Grandma's cake but I certainly plan on it!!:-)
xoxo

I wish I was there to share that snow! And the cake!

Snow! Well, it is beautiful. And wet. We could use some of that down here in dry OK.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the pics of your cake baking, too. The recipes never do serve the number stated, do they?
next time we come over, i want a piece of that grandma cake. well, not THAT one, a freshly baked one :)
ReplyDeleteI like the snow pictures. We get so little of it. As you saw I had to drive to the mountains just to see a little bit. The good news is I'm not quite the size of a house yet so the trail was not as difficult as it could have been. Much bigger and I probably would have passed it up for something flatter in the valley. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of the grandma cake sure look yummy to me.
