The Best of Times, The Worst of Times

For the best, I had my daughters both home for Christmas; what a blessing.

Daughter Alida returned to California on New Year's Eve,
and on the following day she had a ringside seat for the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena.

She sent a couple of pictures, taken with her cell phone.

Daughter Anne is busily "building" costumes for a period play at her graduate school,
so she's back in her snug little apartment. Howard is back at work, and I . . .

Well, that brings us to the worst part.

My mother is nearing the end of her time with us. I am about to join my sister at Mom's bedside. I pray that God's will be done, and I pray for my father -- the very best example of a devoted husband -- and I pray that Mom's passage be peaceful and blessed.

So if you don't hear from me much in the next few days, you will know why.

Have a wonderful final few days of Christmas!
Let us all join the Wise Men in discovering again the Babe in the manger. -- Cass

  18. Blessed be God forever, blessed be His Holy Name. Through the power of the Name of Jesus Christ, I ask that this faithful, loving mother, wife, sister, friend, be blessed with an easy passing. Lord, look upon your faithful servant and grant her your Peace, that she may be seated at the Table of the Lord in Paradise with you. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen

  20. Although I lived just next to Pasadena for years, for some reason I never made it to the Rose Bowl Parade. I've no idea why!

My thoughts are with you, your mother and your family. Take care of yourselves.

  29. oh Cass, I will pray for you and your family. My mother died on Sunday morning and although it was expected it is a horrible thing to watch your mom close her eyes for the last time. God be with you as he is with me. Now, soon, your mom will be an angel, my mom is and has already sent me three marvelous gifts. :) Love to you!
