That Old House Celebrates Memorial Day with a Stunning Transformation!

Welcome to Memorial Day at That Old House! It is also Metamorphosis Monday, so be prepared to be amazed and astounded at this remarkable transformation. . . .

We've gone from this:

to this:

:-)

My daughter Anne, using $6 worth of Dollar Store decorations
and a staple gun, transformed our front porch into a patriotic medley!
Children do indeed have their uses.

Come and join us for a day of porch sitting, and some steaks on the grill later on!

Thanks to Susan of Between Naps On The Porch for Metamorphosis Monday (click here!).

I want to thank my Dad, my father-in-law, and both my brothers for serving our country in the armed forces, and to thank all past and present who have served. Our freedoms come with a price, and I am grateful to those who pay that price on our behalf.

God bless America. -- Cass

  2. You are crackin' me up!!! I thought the transformation was going to be new siding or a new paint color!!!!

    The decorations are very festive.

How I'd LOVE to be there to sit on the porch with you, I'm sure there'd be lots of laughing, and I'm always "in" for a steak (or better yet chicken) on the grill!!!

  3. PS - - - since none of us can get there, why not invite the ghosts up out of the basement for the day?????

  19. Hi Cass, back again... ;-)

I follow Lillian Too's practice so I recommend her books. She has several and most are in public libraries. They are old books and she studied under a master from China, but if you are interested in more contemporary interpretation, there are a lot out there. I recommend any that focus on redesigning rather than symbolism for easy read and comprehension.

  20. HI Cass! I'm so glad you like my roosters! I bought those chickens in chairs prints many years ago at a little boutique in east Texas! I don't even remember the name of the shop!
Shoot! Well, I like sausages too, but I'm sure all of your guest ate them up! :)

  21. Hi again, Cass! Oh, I don't mind at all! I'm thrilled you like them so much. Let her go to town painting you some pictures of chickens on chairs! The only thing I ask - make sure you let me know when you post them so I can see! I love this!

  26. Beautiful, Cass! Did you have a nice holiday?

  27. That looks very cheerful - although I was prepared for a new paint colour!
Will you leave those decorations up through July 4th or will you take them down and then do it all over again?

  28. Cass,

I love that summer has come and I can see pictures of That Old House on the outside. She is just beautiful!!

Kids are wonderful with decorations, aren't they? I think it is because they have more vivid imaginations of party decorations from the past! When I ask my girls to decorate or do tables for a party, they always seem to come up with more unique ideas than me. And I can't believe your daughter found all of this at the Dollar Store! How cool!

Can't wait to see more pics of "The Grounds"!! :-)

    xoxo
