Why?

I was going to write a post about Christmas,
and antiques, and delicious food today,
but the news about the school shootings
in Connecticut has stunned me, and I cannot focus.

I'm sure it has done the same to you.

Unimaginable loss and pain.
And the unanswerable why?

I don't know what to wish for, or what to pray for,
on this terrible day.  But I pray anyway, with
"sighs too deep for words," as Paul writes in his
Epistle to the Romans, with faith that the
Lord understands what my words cannot express.

  1. It really is unbelievable, Cass. It's all I can think about today. I actually feel sick to my stomach over the whole thing. I can't even imagine what those families are going through. So, so sad.

  2. We are all praying with the families and the community. This is an unthinkable tragedy and there are no words we can say. Truly sighs (and tears) too deep for words.

  5. It's awful -- so many young lives cut short. In December we play Christmas carols and rarely have the TV on -- I found out later. Prayers for all the families. And Cass, you are so CLOSE to it!

  7. I am also at a loss except for...why? And there will never be an answer good enough! I am so heartbroken for the everyone in this country but especially for those folks in Connecticut! May all of your prayers and thoughts be felt by every one of them!

  12. I just found out as I do not watch news after 6am. This is so heart breaking. You are the first post I read. Hard to write with tears. My prayers are there for all the affected. Your compassion is welcome. The whole world needs to listen to this.

  15. Cass,
I cannot focus on a blog post. Anything that I had planned on sharing seems quite selfish and trivial.
