Still Celebrating!

Around here, we squeeze every last bit of
Christmas out of Christmas.

So until January 6th, Ephiphany,
it is still Christmas at That Old House.
Which means there are no calories here,
and precious few chores.

Have you seen this image from the Hubble Telescope?
It's the captured image of a star being formed from gas and dust --
but it's caught the world's attention because it looks so very much like an angel.

If you don't hear some sort of soaring Christmas music, or a bit of Scripture,
in your head when you see this picture, well, I don't know what to tell you.

Gloria in excelsis Deo!

And Merry Christmas to all -- Cass

  4. Incredible! I have not seen this.

We, too, don't give it up till January 6 -- precisely the reason I don't start so blooming early.

I hope it has been wonderful!

  5. We are Christmas until January 6th, too~ That image is fascinating, isn't it? It makes me believe in something far bigger than I can understand...and rely on the beauty that is God's own. xo Diana

  6. Merry Christmas --

Christmas has changed from December 25 through January 6 into the day after Thanksgiving to December 25 -- sigh -- I think I like the after better . . . for the after is the reason for the season isn't it?

And it helps makes less January blahs. We're taking down before the New Year because a -- it's a live tree and I don't want it in the house unwatered for two weeks (can we all say "fire hazard"?) and I don't want to come back on the 18th of January and find Christmas still up!!!!

But I'm celebrating tomorrow with a Christmas lunch! So away from the computer and back to putting presents away!

  7. That image really does make you say, WOW!

We're with you on Christmas. We are lucky because husband doesn't have to work between Christmas and the New Year, so we can enjoy lazy days doing whatever we want.

  8. Thank you for this post. I always kept my decor up until January 1st (sometimes later) and I was getting a little depressed with all the talk on people's blogs about them putting their Christmas stuff away already. I was thinking I was the only one that enjoyed the whole season anymore.

  9. I am hoping my tree lasts until the 6th...I know you and I are quite alike as far as extending seasons and holidays as long as possible. It is such a joyous time!

    XO,
    Jane

  10. I think I saw this but was not sure what I was looking at, at the time as I didn't have time to read it. I absolutely love every time there is anything celestial to look at in the stars that is newsworthy and this totally fits the bill! Thank you so much for sharing it! Merry Christmas!

  15. Incredible !
The decorations will remain in place until the 6th January around our place, it's hard to break with long-standing traditions.
I think I'm the only one in town with my lights on each night :)
Wishing you and your family a Happy and Healthy New Year, I've so enjoyed our friendship throughout the year.
    Hugs,
