Hang It All -- A Craigslist Pairing

A little late in the day, but I'm chiming in with a Metamorphosis Monday post. Thanks to Susan at Between Naps On The Porch for hosting. Visit her here for more transformations.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about ordering mirror hangers to hang a large mirror in our dining room. Turns out, we didn't need the hangers, just strong and long brass screws and good wire.

This isn't much of a metamorphosis, but it made me happy.

Here is our Before... below, a sad and lonely sideboard, waiting for love and a humongous mirror:And the other half of our Before: a humongous mirror, waiting to hang over a lonesome sideboard. Clearly, a match made in Heaven.

It was time to unite these two Craigslist bargains. . . . and here's the After:

The sideboard is happy, the mirror is happy, my husband is happy because I'm not saying, "When are you going to hang that mirror?" and I am happy.
Almost.
I am not sure what to put on that old marble top. Any suggestions for a "sideboard-scape?"

  2. wowsers!!!!....the mirror is perfect with the sideboard....as for what to put on top, i think a tall pair of candlestick type lamps to reflect in the mirror and then add some pieces that you love, because you will enjoy it all the more. Hopefully your next Met monday will show your sideboard all decked out...lol

  3. The mirror is just gorgeous and so pretty over the sideboard. As for the top, candlesticks, soup tureen, figurines, lamps - some of all of these. Hugs, Marty

  5. Wow Cass! I love the mirror...how beautiful the chandy looks in the reflection.
I love the suggestion of soup tureen...any of your favorite ceramic or pottery pieces, maybe a lamp or two (I have a weakness for lamps!) You have excellent taste so I know whatever you do will be lovely!

    Love,
    Sue

  8. I love the mirror - I love the colour of the wall - I love the sideboard! What to put on it? What fun! You could go symmetrical with a huge antique bowl of pot pourri with candlesticks on either side. Or you can be eclectic with little groupings of objects: a pile of small leatherbound books with a small statuette atop; a cluster of assorted candlesticks; Toby jugs or little perfume bottles filled with single flowers. Mmm, can I come and help?

  11. I love your marble-topped sideboard! And the mirror really works well together with the sideboard. I have a sideboard that I inherited from my mom. Right now, my dh has a printer and a fax machine sitting on it. Definitely NOT what you want on yours. Maybe something more flowery :O).

Thanks for kind comments on my zoo shots. I've been trying to find some photo contests I could enter some into. I appreciate your remarks :O).
